Degassing / Vapor Control

Vapor elimination enables owner facilities to comply with state and local Air Pollution Control Districts (APCD’s) concerning the total Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) concentration from being released to the Atmosphere.  Many storage tanks in refineries and pipelines must have their vapor reduced by a minimum of 95% before they are allowed to vent to atmosphere.  Ancon utilizes two types of degassing equipment to aid our customers in these efforts.

Internal Combustion Engine:

The Internal Combustion Engines (ICE’s) pass vapors through knockout pots to remove liquids and through filters to remove solid particles.  The vapors are then mixed with air and burned in the internal combustion engine before venting to atmosphere with 99% of the VOC’s broken down.

Thermal Oxidizer:

These units use a flame to oxidize (burn) the hydrocarbons.  They are a quick and efficient way to reduce VOC’s and are most efficient when dealing with projects where a higher flow rate is mandated.
